Mrs. Laurie Haskins - Lower School Music Teacher
Greetings from the Lower School music/drama teacher! My career as a
music educator began eight years ago when I became a piano instructor. In
2004, I received my B.S. degree in Music Education from WCSU. For the past
three years, I taught general music to preschool through eighth grade
students at The Fraser-Woods School in Newtown, CT. I also received my
certification in Orff Level I in August 2006. I am excited to be teaching
preK and elementary music and look forward to a creative, musically
educational year with all my students here at Unquowa!
Mission For the Lower School Music Students
My mission for the PreK and Elementary students is to address the three
creative processes in our music classes: creating, performing, and
responding. Singing, playing instruments, improvising, composing, reading
and notating, listening to music, and understanding music in relation to
history and culture are all designated national standards for music
education that will be implemented into the music curriculum.
